So, I downloaded every issue of Deadly Hands of Kung Fu, the old black and white magazine that Marvel put out in the 70's. There's 2 or 3 short stories in each one, and martial arts related articles. I haven't gone through them all, but I did a couple KungFu hand studies from an article/interview with David Carradine, of "Kung Fu" fame. Y'know. Just because. >.>;

I've also learned the proper, fully illustrated way of executing a leg sweep. So.. watch out.

Things have rusted over a bit this week, so here's the efforts to shake the wheels loose. I get almost giddy sometimes thinking about having a really nice black and white style to apply to a few hundred pages of manga on a really worthwhile story one day. Watch out!

Got my Eon boards in the mail this weekend, took a little break to try 'em out with some VIMANARAMA lovin'. Liking how the pencil flows on it so far, but the real test will be when I get around to inking this. I'm not too worried, the surface feels really good.
I usually cut my own Bristol, but I don't think I'll have the time anymore, and the irregular cuts sometimes have my prints coming out crooked. Blueline paper, by the way, sucks all kinds of proverbial ass and is probably only good for lining your floor if you own pets.
Also, on the subject of Vimanarama, I think they used some kind of scratch and sniff technology on the trade paperback. I could just be losing it though.

*edit - threw down some Grifter inks as a warmup for today's inking marathon. Also started inking a bit of the Vimanarama (just to be extra warmed up), and HOLY SWEET JESUS. Eon Boards are f*cking amazing. I mean, I knew they wouldn't suck, but... the ink's going on it like smooth silky honeybutter. <3 *swoon*

The boy and girl are for a story I've been working on this semester. Gotta touch them up. I am pleased with how they came out. The guy in the green background was just something I was sketching while falling asleep in class on Tuesday. :-p

Everything's work in progress. Won't have anything finished until the end of the semester (next Friday). Then I'm off into the real world, as I will finally be done with my education! Gotta redo my site, make business cards, and make some amazing pieces so that I can get a job! If any of you want to help a guy out and you know CSS please get a hold of me when you get a chance! :-)

Here are a bunch of tidbits from the last two days playing in my sketchbook, as I've been sitting on the couch watching the NBA and dribbling a sort of mucous of art fluid directly from my forebrain onto some clean white paper. I've been having a GOOD old time playing with form lately, and just getting back in touch with the old drawing muscles after a very sloppy six months away from it. One thing that has been especially sparky is playing with Faber Castell brush pens, which I'm surey eeeveryone has by now. Ed, you should have two.

My Life as a Teenage Robot is being cancelled.
And crap like Danny Phantom (Johnny Phantom? I don't even f*cking know) gets to keep running. Don't get me wrong, that team rocked Fairly Oddparents, but that ghost thing sucks.

At least Nickelodeon still has Avatar, and their old standby Spongebob. ... when was the last time anyone saw an Invader Zim episode/rerun?? They use him on stuff, on Nick stuff, like holiday and event clips... but they don't ever show reruns?

Oh.. oh yeah, happy thanksgiving. Spent the day playing fooseball and mini ping pong on one of those 8-in-1 game tables at my cousin's house. Woo!

I'm trying to get to the point where I can do solid comic pages! 90% of the time the drawings I do on a page aren't nearly as good as the stuff I pull of in a sketchbook, cos my brain breaks. So! I'm working on improving that to 10% of the time, so I can draw a COMIC. Even if I don't ever draw a comic. I've just had ass of not being able to, so now I'm going to fix that.

I got real lazy on the cape so it was time for 90'S STYLE IMAGE CO PTY LTD RENDERING!
